As an Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at Banner MD Anderson Medical Center, you will collaborate with a diverse oncology clinic team in an outpatient environment. Previous oncology experience is advantageous for this position. Your work schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional weekend responsibilities.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role actively engages in the healthcare team as a pharmacotherapy expert, ensuring high-quality patient care in the specialty area. Responsibilities include optimal drug therapy selection and regimen design to enhance therapeutic outcomes while minimizing adverse effects. You will be accountable for the continuous evaluation and documentation of pharmaceutical care provided to patients. Additionally, you will conduct educational initiatives, apply performance improvement principles, and participate in relevant committees as necessary. You will demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver care suitable for the age of the patients served.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluate disease management and recommend therapy adjustments to enhance patient medication regimens, ensuring cost-effective medication therapy.

2. Serve as a drug information expert, providing detailed drug education to healthcare teams, pharmacy staff, patients, and the community.

3. Review medication orders for appropriateness, ensuring compliance with established protocols.

4. Incorporate continuous quality improvement principles into various activities and projects.

5. Participate in local and system-based committees, contributing to the development of innovative patient care practices.

6. Meet ASHP preceptor qualifications and mentor pharmacy residents as applicable.

7. Adhere to established policies, procedures, and professional standards, ensuring excellent service to all customers of Banner Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Doctorate in Pharmacy and completion of a PGY1 residency program or a minimum of 3 years of progressive clinical pharmacy experience. Board certification through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties is required.

Must possess a current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice and a degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.

Good organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for effective interaction with staff and healthcare providers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a PGY2 residency or equivalent experience is preferred.
