In the role of Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at Banner MD Anderson Medical Center, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in an outpatient clinic setting. Previous oncology experience is advantageous. Your schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional weekend coverage.

Position Overview
This role involves active participation in the healthcare team as a pharmacotherapy expert, ensuring quality patient care in your area of specialization. You will engage in the optimal selection of drug therapies and design regimens to maximize therapeutic benefits while minimizing adverse effects. This position is responsible for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all pharmaceutical care provided to patients. You will conduct educational initiatives, apply performance improvement principles, and participate in relevant committees as necessary.

Core Responsibilities
1. Evaluate disease management and recommend therapy adjustments to enhance patient medication regimens, ensuring cost-effective medication therapy.
2. Serve as a drug information expert in your specialty, providing detailed drug information and education to the healthcare team, pharmacy staff, patients, and the community.
3. Review medication orders for appropriateness, considering patient data such as age, weight, diagnosis, and laboratory values.
4. Implement continuous quality improvement principles in your activities and participate in medication safety oversight.
5. Engage in local and system-based committees, effectively communicating with stakeholders and contributing to innovative drug-related patient care practices.

Minimum Qualifications
A Doctorate in Pharmacy and completion of a PGY1 residency program are required. Alternatively, a minimum of three years of progressive clinical pharmacy experience in a health system may be acceptable. Board certification through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties is also required.

Licensure as a pharmacist in the state of practice is mandatory, along with a degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy. If not already licensed, candidates must complete the Board of Pharmacy application process promptly.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for this role. Knowledge of medication management software and proficiency in Microsoft applications are also required.

Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a PGY2 residency or PGY1 residency plus three years of health system experience is preferred. Board certification in the relevant specialty area is also advantageous.
