Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Informatics Technician to join our team at Medstar. As a key member of our pharmaceutical team, you will play a critical role in improving patient care outcomes and quality by coordinating and performing technical duties related to drug distribution and dispensing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform technical duties related to drug distribution and dispensing, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Interact with Pyxis/Meditech systems to ensure accurate and efficient medication management.
  • Monitor and correct errors in patient billing and medication dispensing.
  • Develop and implement reports to enhance pharmacy systems and improve patient care.
  • Oversee the addition of new drugs to the charge master and ensure accurate pricing and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform periodic backups of system data to ensure security and ease of retrieval.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues with printers and software.
  • Assist with clerical duties related to information systems in the department.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • 3-4 years of hospital pharmacy experience, including IV admixture, required.
  • DC Pharmacy Licenses and Certifications required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment, prepackaging machines, and medication carts.
  • Basic mathematical skills and working knowledge of the metric system.
  • Excellent knowledge of drug distribution and dispensing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Familiarity with Pyxis, Meditech, and SMS systems.
Compensation

The hiring range for this position is $31.36.
