Pharmacy Technician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Actalent. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy operations and ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting the Pharmacist: Assist the licensed Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications to patients, performing designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations.
- Preparing Medications: Prepare oral, topical, and all parenteral medications for dispensing to patients, including the selection, labeling, and packaging of appropriate pharmaceuticals using appropriate IV equipment, and filling of medication carts.
- Entering Orders: Enter physician orders into the hospital computer system to update/edit patient profiles and charges.
- Providing Support: Assist patients, nurses, physicians, and others with medication order requests and pharmacy-related needs.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates for pharmacy areas and replenish medications as needed. Conduct monthly/periodic inspections of patient care/department areas.
- Automated Dispensing: Fill and replace medications in the automated medication dispensing machines and transport to appropriate nursing unit(s).
- IV Admixtures: Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic techniques, including STATS, parenteral nutrition bags, and cytotoxic agents.
- Delivering Medications: Deliver and retrieve medications, including narcotics, and pharmacy supplies to/from patient care and satellite pharmacy areas.
- Compounding Products: Compound products in bulk, or per individual order, and prepare private stock orders and individual unit-of-use packaging, when not otherwise available.
- Inventory Log: Complete and maintain controlled substance inventory log/records.
- Team Collaboration: Effectively perform all pharmacy technician duties in all pharmacy locations, including the OR pharmacy. Assist the tenured Pharmacy Technician in orienting new Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician students.
- Work Environment: Maintain clean and orderly workstations.
- DC Pharmacy Technician License: DC Pharmacy Technician License Required
- Experience: Must have at least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience
- Hospital Experience: Hospital Experience preferred but not required
