The Community School Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN) Community School initiative at their designated site. This program is a collaboration among Multnomah County, the School District, and El Programa Hispano Católico. Working closely with the school principal, staff, family leadership team, and community members, the Coordinator will develop school-based initiatives that address academic, enrichment, recreational, and social service needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contract Oversight & Management
- Design and execute the SUN Community School Extended-Day and Summer programs at the assigned school, integrating services from community partners, school-led initiatives, and SUN activities into a cohesive model.
- Create culturally inclusive core services to meet academic, enrichment, recreational, leadership, and social service needs.
- Lead community engagement efforts at the school (e.g., Back to School Night, Family Nights).
- Develop improvement strategies to enhance program delivery as needed.
- Manage the school site budget for program expenses.
- Data Management and Recordkeeping:
- Ensure accurate data entry and documentation (both electronic and paper) as mandated by law, funders, and EPHC.
- Guarantee that all participant intakes, assessments, service plans, etc., comply with State, Federal, and EPHC standards and ethical guidelines.
- Organize and maintain records, documentation, and reports as required by the agency, partners, and funders.
- Participate in scheduled program meetings with funders, school districts, and community stakeholders.
- Establish, strengthen, and maintain robust professional relationships with school administration, community partners, and the local community.
- Act as the primary contact for all after-school activities at the assigned school.
- Effectively represent EPHC within the local community.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with the assigned funder liaison and related stakeholders.
- Lead and oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Support staff professional development and supervision.
- Attend required program, organizational, and funder meetings.
- Ensure adherence to EPHC's policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the program supervisor.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) and bicultural responsiveness are essential.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
- Associate's degree in public service, social work, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in education or curriculum development is preferred.
- Experience working with children, youth, and families is essential.
- Knowledge and experience in organizing within Latinx/Communities of Color are necessary.
- Demonstrated strong supervisory and coaching abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Zoom, Google Meets, Teams, etc.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Availability to work after-school hours, typically from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
- Occasional travel for training, community partner meetings, and funder meetings may be required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and automobile insurance as required by the agency.
- Satisfactory results from civil, criminal, and motor vehicle background checks are mandatory.
Location & Typical Working Conditions:
Community On-Site (80% of time)
- Lead Extended Day Program after school, support school team, engage with families, lead after-school events, and attend in-person trainings and meetings.
- Office work is conducted at EPHC's office and is required for staff meetings, department meetings, and community events.
- This position may allow for remote work for administrative tasks such as data entry and report writing, subject to performance evaluations.
