Your Role
In this position, you will collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and other business units while working with your immediate team to take ownership of and deliver comprehensive features and functionalities for Cribl Lake.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will leverage your experience and knowledge to guide your team towards optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
As an integral member of our team, you will:

  • Steer the technical vision and architecture of Cribl Lake, ensuring its scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to define and achieve product roadmaps and objectives.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Identify and address technical risks and debt, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the codebase.
  • Contribute to the establishment of best practices and engineering standards within the organization.
  • Enhance and expand the capabilities of Cribl Lake, utilizing your expertise in distributed systems and cloud technologies.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A proven history of writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Extensive experience in complex development environments, particularly in large-scale, highly available distributed systems and SaaS platforms.
  • Deep expertise in developing resilient and scalable backend services on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, Linux, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with assertion frameworks and tools such as Mocha, Cypress, and Jest for automating regression checks.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a quick learning aptitude.
  • A commitment to producing elegant and high-quality software.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.

Preferred Skills
Additionally, candidates with the following qualifications will be favored:

  • A passion for enabling the success of fellow engineers and finding fulfillment in their achievements.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as BitBucket, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.
  • A broad range of experience implementing various cloud design patterns.
  • Familiarity with serverless or lambda-based implementations.
  • A willingness to express ideas and share insights.
  • An appreciation for humor and a fondness for goats.
  • Comfort with remote work.

Compensation
The salary for this role ranges from $190,000 to $270,000, depending on geographic location. The offered salary within this range will be based on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Alongside a competitive salary, Cribl provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance, paid holidays, paid time off, a fertility treatment benefit, 401(k), equity, and eligibility for a discretionary company-wide bonus.
