Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating, repairing, rebuilding, and performing maintenance on Company-owned or leased heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment. This includes rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely, allowing our Drivers to continue keeping local neighborhoods clean and safe by providing waste removal and environmental services to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the inspection of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  • Perform basic knowledge of preventative maintenance, including tire, oil, and brake changes.
  • Participate in training classes and development opportunities to increase skills and working knowledge.
  • Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
  • Perform DOT, PM, brake, and safety inspections on all vehicles.
  • Obtain a Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification within six months of employment.
  • Complete work orders, order parts, and perform other administrative duties as required daily.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
Requirements
  • Entry-level knowledge/experience of at least 1+ years.
  • Willingness to learn more complex diagnostic and repair processes.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
  • Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
  • Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred.
  • ASE certifications beneficial.
