Principal Cloud Automation Engineer (AWS) Level 6


Argo Cyber Systems is engaged in a significant mission-critical development and sustainment initiative for a U.S. Government client, focusing on the design, construction, delivery, and operation of a network operations environment. This includes the integration of innovative cyber capabilities to counteract emerging threats.

We are in search of a Principal Cloud Automation Engineer (AWS) who will evaluate, design, and create agile, DevOps-oriented, cloud-centric, requirements-driven, autonomously orchestrated architectures and environments. The goal is to ensure the rigor, consistency, and ongoing reliability of mission-critical environments. This role is suited for an individual who fundamentally opposes the reliance on repetitive manual operational tasks in favor of automated workflows, trusting established automated resources for accurate system deployment over manual methods.

Note: This position necessitates a minimum of a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Cloud Engineer to develop cutting-edge, cloud-oriented automation and orchestration architectures that deliver robust, self-validating cybersecurity capabilities for a major U.S. Government client.
  • Assist in defining and articulating a unified technical and architectural vision.
  • Lead Agile Scrum teams in the design and implementation of advanced, cloud-oriented autonomous cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Engage directly with customers, stakeholders, and end-users to discuss capability architectures, requirements, use cases, and stories to derive, develop, and refine next-cycle updates and specifications.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of requirements-driven automation architecture.

Essential Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Possession of an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Eligibility to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a leader, in a team, or as an individual contributor.
  • Experience in communicating with senior leadership at Customer, VP, or Director levels.
  • Capability to influence key stakeholder direction and outcomes through information analysis and relevant fact identification.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Over 10 years of professional experience in a technology-related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience with AWS.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in complex autonomous package builds, autonomous API-driven backends, infrastructure automation and orchestration, event-driven micro-service architectures, orchestrated infrastructure automation, or configuration-driven deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams and projects at the Tech Lead or Product Owner level.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Git, Ansible, Chef, AWS Lambda, Terraform, or cloud-native tools like CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of Identity Management systems (RHEL IDM, Azure Active Directory).
  • Experience with scripting, Linux packages, and dependencies.
  • Familiarity with manipulating Linux and Windows environments, including NTP, DNS, Networking, LDAP, or Software repositories.
  • Experience with branching and release strategies, CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing event-driven microservice architectures.
  • Experience in providing technical oversight of individuals and projects.
  • Background in DevOps and/or DevSecOps environments.
  • Knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Experience with agile tools, including Jira and Jira Align.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Two years of related work experience may substitute for each year of degree level education.

Desired Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
  • Certifications related to Agile development and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) such as Scrum Master, Product Owner, SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Practitioner (SP), or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC).
