**Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled Health Information Service Technician to join our team at Washington Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our health information services department, you will play a vital role in supporting the revenue cycle by retrieving and processing discharged medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Document Retrieval and Processing: Transport medical records to the Health Information Services department while obtaining verification of record receipt.
  2. Medical Record Assembly and Scanning: Assemble and scan medical records utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) software.
  3. Release of Information: Maintain knowledge of ROI procedures to facilitate efficient release requests.
  4. Documentation Support: Assist other departments and users in locating documents within EMR software.
  5. Transcription System Utilization: Utilize transcription systems for accessing documents as needed.
  6. Communication and Coordination: Effectively communicate with physician offices for retrieval and completion of necessary documentation.
  7. Duplicate Record Identification: Identify duplicate medical records and combine them accordingly.
  8. Documentation Analysis and Reporting: Analyze documentation in patient charts and use it for reporting purposes.
  9. Deficiency Issuance: Issue deficiencies for missing information within medical records.
  10. Correspondence Support: Assist with answering correspondence from outside agencies regarding billing needs.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in an HIS, healthcare, or clerical support role preferred.

Compensation and Benefits: Our competitive salary range for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
