About the Role

Stanford Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Diagnostic Mammography Procedures: Assist patients in filling out mammography questionnaires, offer patient education, and handle all paperwork associated with procedures.
  • Assist with Ancillary Functions: Assist with mammography ancillary functions, such as obtaining outside films for comparison and follow-up process, filming images as required, and faxing patient consent forms and abnormal results to physicians.
  • Conduct Procedures Requiring Specialized Knowledge: Assist with procedures requiring knowledge of J wire placements, ultrasound-guided core needle biopsies, wire placements, and specimen transport.
  • Charge Procedures and Supplies: Charge mammographic procedures and supplies in Radiology Information Systems.
  • Obtain and Identify Mammography Images: Correctly obtain and identify mammography images, manipulate and send images via the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) network, and move images to physicians' reading stations.
  • Develop Mammographic Film: Develop mammographic film and match it with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation.
  • Evaluate Radiographs for Diagnostic Quality: Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images as needed.
  • Operate Mammographic Radiographic Equipment: Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other devices as appropriate.
Requirements
  • License/Certification Requirement: Meet the requirement for a License/Certification.
  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to Accurately Bill Complex Procedures: Ability to accurately bill complex procedures and supplies in a timely fashion.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and congenital/acquired pathology as they relate to the use and interpretation of ultrasound diagnostic procedures.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area.
  • Knowledge of Radiographic Techniques: Knowledge of radiographic and fluoroscopic techniques, methods, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Safety Principles: Knowledge of safety principles and procedures related to ultrasound procedures and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Ultrasound Diagnostic Procedures: Knowledge of ultrasound diagnostic procedures and equipment/instrumentation.
