About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Mentor to join our team at Doncaster Council. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop emotional regulation, social skills, and academic abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Use evidence-based strategies and interventions to promote positive behavior and academic achievement.
  • Conduct regular progress monitoring and assessments to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in SEMH support.
Requirements
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in a related field (e.g., education, social work, psychology).
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice 0-25 years and ability to apply this in practice.
