Job Summary

The University of Maryland is seeking a highly skilled IT Lead Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT & Facilities Operations department, you will be responsible for leading our desktop support team and providing technical expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance our desktop environments, including Windows and Mac systems.
  • Provide technical consultation and solution architecting for our desktop support team.
  • Participate in cross-team infrastructure management and lead our support for data center hardware and Windows server environments.
  • Develop and administer all aspects of our desktop and public computing environments.
  • Collaborate with our DST colleagues and campus partners to maintain highly performative application and computing environments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of work experience as a desktop administrator in a large, enterprise Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to use project and issue management software for tracking and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Advanced knowledge in Windows Server and Workstation, SCCM, Intune, MDT, imaging, and Group Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field such as computer science or information technology.
  • Application virtualization experience, Microsoft SQL Server experience, and experience with MacOS, JAMF, VDI, scripting, BitLocker, Microsoft Azure, Intune, Office 365, and Amazon Web Services.
  • CompTia A+, Security+, Server+ Certified and Jamf Pro Certified Tech.
