Robotics Software Engineer

This position is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Robotics Software Engineer to support the development of autonomous systems in a dynamic and innovative environment.

The selected candidate will work closely with faculty researchers and student researchers at the Maryland Robotics Center (MRC) to advance the project, utilizing cutting-edge autonomy algorithms and 5G networks for command and control.

The project aims to create a Multi-Agent System (MAS) that leverages multiple drones to assist first responders in quickly reacting to an active shooter in an urban, campus environment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop software for a variety of autonomous MAS in other MRC-led projects, working on diverse projects involving aerial and ground robots to solve real-world problems.

The position requires strong software development skills, including experience with Robot Operating System (ROS) or similar robotics software, and the ability to work in a team environment to achieve project goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Two years' experience in software development, including experience with ROS or similar robotics software
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
