Critical Care Veterinary Technician

Ethos Veterinary Health is in search of a skilled Veterinary Technician or Assistant specializing in Intensive Care to enhance our Emergency and Critical Care department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care for a diverse range of emergency and specialty cases.
- Manage patient treatments on an hourly basis and effectively delegate tasks.
- Triage critical patients, monitor changes in their condition, and communicate updates to the veterinarian.
- Educate and inform pet owners regarding their pets' status and assist with discharges.
- Assess the needs of hospitalized patients and relay pertinent information to the overseeing veterinarian.
- Administer inpatient treatments and nursing care throughout your shift.
- Calculate and deliver medications, fluid additives, and continuous rate infusions (CRIs).
- Collaborate with veterinarians in patient evaluations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
- Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood and urine.
- Insert and maintain nasogastric tubes, nasal cannulas, and central venous catheters.
- Utilize various imaging modalities for patient assessment.
- Execute, monitor, and recover from all assigned sedation and anesthetic procedures.
- Assist in minor surgical procedures as needed.
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position typically ranges from $24.00 to $32.00, depending on experience, skillset, and licensure. Additional compensation is available for swing and graveyard shifts.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital environment is required, with 1 year of experience in Emergency and Critical Care preferred.
- RVT or VTS credentials are preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding and experience in anesthetic monitoring are essential.
- Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and familiarity with radiographic techniques are required.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and build long-term relationships with colleagues and clients.
- A positive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with a dedication to exceptional client service.
