Job Title: Production Control Specialist

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Production Control Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate manufacturing schedules and coordinate material flow to meet customer requirements
  • Perform shop order release/closure in MRP System and reconcile parts
  • Provide detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and communicate constraints to schedule
  • Prepare work orders for production based on master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activity with warehouse, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, logistics, and program
  • Schedule and expedite part movement using move orders, stock transfers, and shipping requests
  • Work cross-functionally to expedite material shortages with procurement, receiving, quality, and production areas
  • Implement material stocking strategies on production lines, monitor, control, and maintain proper floor stock
  • Control access and consumption of material in manufacturing
  • Monitor production line flow and partner with Production to ensure work completes on time to schedule
  • Monitor disposition of MRB and stranded material
  • Enter material transactions in ERP system
  • Prepare reports and note shortages/damage
  • Process scrap and obsolete inventory from WIP locations as required
  • Prepare for, conduct, and assist in reconciliation of cycle counts
  • Knowledge of backflush process
  • Work with Production and Materials teams to resolve part discrepancies
  • May interface with departments throughout the company
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of supply chain experience
  • Experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Experience with planning and/or scheduling activities
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office, ERP experience with MRP execution desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates understanding and applies continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired:
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree
  • Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends, and travel on occasion
  • Based on job duties, may need to work in areas with exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to handle multiple decisions based on workload dispersion, program priorities, and management and customer decisions
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math and analytical skills to solve problems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
