Job Title: Harvest Lead

Join BrightFarms Inc, a national leader in the indoor farming industry, as a Harvest Lead. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to coordinate the daily harvest plan and harvest crew in a safe and efficient manner.

Job Summary:

The Harvest Lead will be responsible for supervising the harvest crew, training and educating them on operating procedures, and ensuring adherence to standardized practices and quality requirements. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to make decisions and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily harvest plan and harvest crew to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Train and educate harvest crew members on operating procedures, emphasizing safety and food safety protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to all current SOPs, procedures, inspections, and quality requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to address any irregularities or concerns.
  • Develop and implement daily harvest plans, making decisions as instructed by supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records of performed testing and ensure proper documentation of charts according to company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure the harvest crew maintains a safe, clean, and organized work area, performing periodic sanitation as required.
  • Report any food safety or quality issues to supervisors, the SQF Practitioner, or Senior Management.
Requirements:
  • 1+ years of experience in a production environment or related work experience.
  • Food or agriculture industry experience preferred.
  • Training in Food Safety and Sanitation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as standard operating procedures, safety rules, and label mixing instructions.
  • Ability to fulfill routine logs related to food safety and inspection reports.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
Working Conditions:

Greenhouse/Warehouse/Coolers. Employees will have frequent exposure to seasonal conditions, which may range from extreme heat and humidity in the summer to cold in the winter. Will spend some time inside near-freezing coolers. Often working near moving mechanical parts. There will be exposure to cleaning chemicals. The noise level of machines and cooling units can be loud.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, employees are expected to constantly use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as talk and hear. There is frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The lifting requirements are to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, often lift up to 25 pounds, and constantly lift up to 10 pounds. The employee should have clear correctable vision at close and distance range, as well as peripheral vision to notice safety hazards.
