As a frontrunner in the indoor farming sector, BrightFarms is redefining how fresh produce is cultivated and distributed through our advanced hydroponic farms. With multiple high-tech greenhouse facilities currently operational and additional regional hubs set to launch, we are committed to providing fresh, sustainable lettuce options to thousands of retail locations.
Position Summary: We are seeking a Harvest Lead to oversee our harvesting operations, ensuring efficiency and safety in our processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the harvest team to ensure operational goals are met, providing guidance and corrective feedback as necessary.
- Train team members on operational protocols, emphasizing safety and food quality standards.
- Adhere to established procedures and quality control measures.
- Communicate any product or equipment irregularities to management promptly.
- Develop daily harvest plans in collaboration with management and make informed decisions as required.
- Maintain accurate records of testing and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure the harvest area is safe, clean, and organized, conducting regular sanitation as needed.
- Report any food safety or quality issues to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a production or related environment.
- Experience in the food or agriculture sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of Food Safety and Sanitation practices.
- Ability to interpret standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Proficient in maintaining routine logs for food safety and inspections.
- Basic mathematical skills for operational calculations.
Working Environment: The role involves working in a greenhouse, warehouse, and cooler settings. Employees may encounter varying seasonal conditions, including heat and cold, and will work near mechanical equipment and cleaning agents.
Physical Demands: The position requires frequent use of hands for handling and operating equipment, as well as standing, walking, and occasional lifting of weights up to 50 pounds.
