Position Summary: We are seeking a Harvest Lead to oversee the daily harvesting operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the harvest team operates efficiently and safely while adhering to established protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the harvest crew to ensure daily objectives are achieved, providing guidance and corrective feedback as necessary.
- Educate team members on operational procedures with a strong focus on safety and food safety standards.
- Comply with all standard operating procedures, quality inspections, and regulatory requirements.
- Report any irregularities in product quality or equipment functionality to the supervisor.
- Develop daily harvest plans under the supervisor's direction and make informed decisions as required.
- Maintain accurate records of testing and ensure documentation aligns with company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure the harvest area is safe, clean, and organized, performing regular sanitation as needed.
- Address food safety and quality concerns with the Supervisor or designated management personnel.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a production or related environment.
- Experience in the food or agriculture sector is preferred.
- Training in Food Safety and Sanitation is essential.
- Ability to interpret standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Proficient in maintaining logs related to food safety and inspections.
- Basic mathematical skills for calculations involving whole numbers.
Working Environment:
This position operates within a greenhouse, warehouse, and cooler settings. Employees may encounter varying seasonal conditions, including extreme heat and cold. There will be exposure to cleaning chemicals and the noise levels from machinery can be significant.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this role, employees are expected to frequently use their hands for various tasks, as well as engage in standing, walking, reaching, and lifting. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and constant lifting of up to 10 pounds. Clear vision, both near and far, is necessary to identify safety hazards.
