The Harvest Lead is responsible for orchestrating the daily harvesting schedule and managing the harvest team in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves following the supervisor's directives while adhering to standardized practices to achieve the desired outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the harvest team to ensure daily objectives are met, providing guidance and corrective feedback as necessary.
- Educate and train team members on operational procedures, emphasizing safety and food safety standards.
- Comply with all established SOPs, inspection protocols, and quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate any product or equipment irregularities to the supervisor promptly.
- Develop the daily harvest plan under the supervisor's guidance and make informed decisions as required.
- Maintain accurate records of testing and ensure documentation aligns with company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure the harvest area is safe, clean, and organized, performing regular sanitation as needed.
- Report any food safety or quality issues to the Supervisor, SQF Practitioner, or Senior Management directly.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a production environment or related field.
- Experience in the food or agriculture sector is preferred.
- Training in Food Safety and Sanitation is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOPs, safety regulations, and mixing instructions.
- Proficient in maintaining routine logs related to food safety and inspections.
- Basic mathematical skills for calculations involving whole numbers.
Work will be conducted in a greenhouse, warehouse, and cooler environments. Employees may experience varying seasonal conditions, including high heat and humidity in summer and cold temperatures in winter. Tasks may involve working in near-freezing conditions and proximity to moving machinery. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and elevated noise levels from machinery is also expected.
Physical RequirementsEmployees in this role are expected to engage in frequent hand usage, talking, and hearing. The position requires standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. Lifting requirements include occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, and constant lifting of up to 10 pounds. Clear vision, both near and far, is necessary to identify safety hazards.
