Position Overview

The Ostomy and Wound Care Registered Nurse serves as a pivotal member of the healthcare team, focusing on the management and treatment of patients with complex wound and ostomy needs within a clinical environment. This role operates under the guidance of the Clinical Nurse Manager and is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients during their hospital stay. The nurse will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced nursing skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult and geriatric patients with wounds and ostomies.
  • Maintain compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and adhere to all established hospital policies and procedures.
  • Engage in leadership and organizational activities to enhance the quality of care provided.
  • Foster strong interdisciplinary relationships to ensure cohesive patient care.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Possession of a valid Registered Nurse License in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Certification as a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN).
  • Experience in wound care management.
