Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician - Generalist to join our team at Shore Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various laboratory procedures, including quality control, specimen collection, and testing.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize quality control measures to ensure accurate test results and maintain high standards of laboratory practice.
- Communicate critical values and abnormal results to healthcare teams in a timely and effective manner.
- Recognize and review abnormal results, taking appropriate action to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Perform STAT and routine orders with precision and efficiency, meeting established time limits.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
- Identify and address problems, taking proactive steps to resolve issues and improve laboratory operations.
- Prioritize workload based on volume and urgency, ensuring timely completion of tasks and responsibilities.
- Collect and process specimens accurately and efficiently, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Communicate current workstation status to colleagues, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
- Perform routine maintenance procedures safely and effectively, ensuring laboratory equipment is in good working order.
- Evaluate and perform instrument functions, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results.
- MT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) certification, or eligibility to sit for the exam.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and medical terminology.
- Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, with the capacity to lift, push, and pull as required.
