Role Summary and Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, you will conduct routine, complex, or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological, and immunoassay tests on bodily fluids to assist in diagnosing and evaluating disease treatments while adhering to the highest standards of medical technology. You will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with all accrediting agencies and performing related quality control and administrative tasks as necessary.

POPULATION SERVED:

Clinical laboratory services provided to patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficiently operate laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct and report testing on quality control and patient samples promptly.
  • Exhibit competence in executing testing procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Preferred certification as a Laboratory Medical Technologist (MT(ASCP)) or equivalent from a recognized accrediting body. A general experience of 1-3 years in a clinical laboratory setting or equivalent training is desirable.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Proficient knowledge in medical laboratory technology and strong problem-solving abilities.
