Project Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team at Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corporation. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for processing project setup and billing within Deltek Costpoint, verifying required documents, and handling billing to clients.
Key Responsibilities- Create and manage project setup in Deltek Costpoint, including billing formulas, revenue formulas, contract funding, and project locations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project information throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly billing to customers in collaboration with project managers.
- Assist with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll for project/account errors.
- Review and post timely and accurate project revenue recognition procedures in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and analyze project costs and variance reporting for assigned projects.
- Reconcile unbilled monthly and communicate discrepancies to management.
- Monitor project budgets and progress, and share results with Program Managers to ensure financial expectations are met.
- Maintain open communication with direct management regarding financial results and ensure Project Managers and other senior personnel are aware of risks and opportunities identified during project financial tracking.
- Maintain complete project files on SharePoint, including contracts, subcontracts, proposals, budgets, revenue, and plans.
- Track and monitor projects in anticipation of de-obligation of funds requests.
- Participate in preparation for financial audits.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Prior experience with Costpoint is preferred.
- Government contract experience required.
- Knowledge of DCAA requirements preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suites, particularly Excel, as well as other database software.
- Effective communication skills, including communicating with tact and diplomacy.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated, and proactive.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general accepted accounting practices (GAAP).
