About the Job

CableCom is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our Telecom Underground team. As a Laborer, you will play a crucial role in all phases of underground construction, including loading, delivery, digging, and equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading, driving, and delivery of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment
  • Hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools
  • Installing and maintaining underground telecommunications cabling
  • Climbing into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
  • Operating or working around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Working in congested or remote areas
  • Maintaining visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
  • Performing general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor
  • Flagging, property, or worksite restoration
  • Maintaining safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Possession of a valid driver's license required
  • To be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
Physical Abilities & Exposures

The Laborer will be required to perform the above duties for at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or on-call.

The duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping while on shift.

The Laborer will be required to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat. The employee will be exposed to adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold temperatures, inclement weather, and adverse driving conditions.

The Laborer may be exposed to dust, fumes, or other airborne pathogens. The employee will be required to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance.
