Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Laborer - Underground Utilities Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for supporting all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Hand dig using shovel, mechanical tools, and other equipment to install underground telecommunications cabling.
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery, including utility trucks and equipment.
- Work in congested or remote areas, maintaining visual and audible contact with other crew members and moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Perform general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor, including setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.
- Lift heavy equipment and supplies, and develop an understanding of buried utilities.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Report.
- Possess a valid driver's license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Class A CDL is a PLUS (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry.
- Able to perform all duties in telecommunication construction.
This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind.
Physical Requirements:The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds.
