Role Overview:
The Patient Access Supervisor is responsible for organizing and coordinating the activities of assigned personnel to guarantee safe, effective, and appropriate operations in a fiscally responsible manner.

In collaboration with the Patient Access Manager, this role focuses on developing and mentoring staff to achieve optimal performance. The Supervisor will oversee the orientation and training of all Patient Access personnel and assist the Patient Access Manager with daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emotional Intelligence: Build and maintain trusting relationships by accurately interpreting one’s own and others’ emotions, adapting behaviors to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Creating an Inclusive Environment: Make informed decisions and take action to ensure that policies and practices utilize the diverse capabilities and insights of individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Coordinate all registration functions with both direct and indirect reporting staff.
  • Ensure daily completion of registration and pre-registration tasks.
  • Provide training and support to staff members.
  • Monitor daily productivity and communicate performance metrics to staff. Review reports to track departmental performance in key areas such as point of service, wait times, and productivity.
  • Assign and manage staff schedules, including rotations, time off, and call-offs as needed.
  • Ensure departmental scheduling aligns with organizational policies, minimizing overtime while maximizing productivity.
  • Oversee the tracking and monitoring of upfront collection processes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, which may include days, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • During on-call duties, provide administrative and educational support to staff via telephone.
  • Conduct staff training, education, and development initiatives.
  • Perform audits to ensure acceptable performance levels and provide ongoing coaching and education as required.
  • Act as a resource for staff and other departments.
  • Manage assigned projects related to implementation, tracking, and process improvements.
  • Regularly report to Patient Access Leadership for monitoring purposes.
  • Attend facility meetings as necessary to ensure alignment and effective communication between clinical and operational teams.
  • Educational Requirements: 2-Year Associate's Degree or 4-Year Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience: 1+ years of supervisory experience in healthcare or a related business field preferred.

Additional Information:
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with registration, insurance, scheduling, and hospital billing processes is essential.
