Job Title: Operations Manager

We are expanding outside of Amerant Bank Arena via the renovation of the FTL War Memorial in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This state-of-the-art ice facility features two regulation-size rinks, including a new team practice rink with stadium seating, and a 4,000-capacity music theatre for live entertainment. Job Summary:

At the direction of the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will lead a staff that supports the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the events and activities at War Memorial complex, including the Baptist Health IcePlex and the War Memorial Auditorium, ensuring implementation of best practices consistent with the company's current policies and procedures. This position works hand in hand with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the ice rink and auditorium.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Walk the entire footprint of the War Memorial Complex daily to ensure a clean and orderly environment and report/make recommendations to the Director of Operations on a daily basis of any pressing issues or concerns regarding the facilities.
  • Responsible for tasks necessary to ensure safe daily operations of ice rink and related support equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the facilities, including all lobbies and common areas, seating areas, bathrooms, locker rooms, bleachers, and showers.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the equipment used at the War Memorial complex, including HVAC systems, natural gas water heaters, ice plant operation, Zamboni ice resurfacer, basic carpentry, and other skills as needed.
  • Supports the Director of Operations in the hiring of Operations employees.
  • Evaluates the need and makes recommendations for employee training.
  • Schedules and directs staff as designated by Director of Operations.
  • Inventories and orders critical supplies as needed.
  • Responsible for overseeing machinery and equipment as directed by the Director of Operations from time to time.
  • Responsible for Zamboni training, maintenance, and operation.
  • Responsible for daily Ice/Board Maintenance to conform to NHL standards.
  • Serves as SDO (Staff Duty Officer) as required.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Prior ice rink maintenance experience and sports arena/facility experience are highly desired qualifications. Experience with ice resurfacing equipment, including operation, maintenance, and training, is also required. Strong people management skills and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of building systems, equipment, maintenance procedures, tools, controls, and construction practices are essential. The candidate must meet the physical demands of the job, which include lifting up to 50 lbs. The candidate must also have the ability to work as a team player and have good self-motivational, organizational, and time-management skills. The ability to maintain and abide by organizational confidentiality standards and work under fluid deadlines and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner is also required.
