Position Overview:

LPC is on the lookout for a skilled and experienced State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager. The successful candidate will possess a robust understanding of state and local income and sales tax compliance and advisory services, demonstrating the ability to navigate intricate tax regulations while offering strategic tax planning insights. This position demands exceptional accuracy, strong analytical capabilities, and a collaborative spirit.

Experience Requirements:

5-8 years of relevant experience in a comparable position, focusing on state and local income and sales tax compliance and advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit state and local tax returns, encompassing income, sales, use, property, and franchise taxes.
  • Ensure adherence to state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough research on state and local tax matters and stay informed about legislative changes.
  • Interpret and apply tax regulations to specific client scenarios.
  • Develop and execute tax planning strategies aimed at minimizing tax liabilities.
  • Advise clients on the tax consequences of business decisions and transactions.
  • Assist in state and local tax audits, including documentation collection and inquiry responses.
  • Represent clients in discussions with tax authorities.
  • Analyze financial statements and other relevant data to ascertain tax obligations.
  • Prepare tax provisions and associated financial disclosures.
  • Utilize tax software and technology tools for tax return preparation and filing.
  • Maintain and update tax databases and systems.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide tax guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on tax issues and proposed solutions.
  • Maintain organized records of tax filings and correspondence.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all tax-related activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external advisors for comprehensive tax planning and compliance.
  • Engage in team meetings and contribute to the formulation of tax strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices.
  • Participate in professional development and training to further technical expertise.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in accounting or a related field (preferred).

· A current CPA or EA license is preferred. If not already obtained, the candidate must agree to secure it within 18-24 months of starting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Thorough understanding of state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with CCH Access Tax Software (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
