Position Overview:

LPC is in search of a committed and experienced State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in state and local income and sales tax compliance and consulting, demonstrating the ability to navigate intricate tax regulations while offering strategic tax planning guidance. This position demands a high degree of precision, exceptional analytical abilities, and a collaborative spirit.

Experience Requirements:

5-8 years of relevant experience in a comparable role, focusing on state and local income and sales tax compliance and consulting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit state and local tax returns, encompassing income, sales, use, property, and franchise taxes.
  • Ensure adherence to state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough research on state and local tax matters and remain informed about legislative changes.
  • Interpret and apply tax regulations to specific client scenarios.
  • Formulate and execute tax planning strategies aimed at minimizing tax liabilities.
  • Advise clients on the tax ramifications of business decisions and transactions.
  • Assist in state and local tax audits, including the collection of documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Represent clients in discussions with tax authorities.
  • Analyze financial statements and other financial data to ascertain tax liabilities.
  • Prepare tax provisions and associated financial disclosures.
  • Utilize tax software and technology tools for tax return preparation and filing.
  • Maintain and update tax databases and systems.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide tax guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on tax issues and proposed solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of tax filings and correspondence.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all tax-related activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external advisors to ensure comprehensive tax planning and compliance.
  • Engage in team meetings and contribute to the formulation of tax strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices.
  • Participate in professional development and training to elevate technical skills.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in accounting or a related field (preferred).

· A current CPA or EA license is preferred. If not yet obtained, the candidate must agree to acquire it within a specified timeframe after commencing employment.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with CCH Access Tax Software (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
