Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Nursing Faculty to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a key member of our Clinical Education department, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical and non-clinical educational programs for our operational components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Safety: Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and identify and report potential or actual patient safety concerns.
  • Education Assessment: Identify educational needs, practice gaps, and issues of staff by collecting data and related information, and analyze issues, trends, and supporting evidence to determine needs of individuals, departments, and the organization.
  • Instruction: Implement or coordinate the implementation of educational curricula utilizing adult learning principles, and teach relevant content to promote positive learning and practice environments.
  • Outcomes and Evaluation: Identify outcomes of educational plans, analyze educational program evaluations, and monitor and evaluate progress toward attainment of goals.
  • Quality: Maintain and systematically enhance the quality of instructional programs and effectiveness of the nursing professional development practitioner, and apply quality improvement processes.
  • Professional Practice: Maintain current knowledge and competency in the field of expertise and professional development practice, and enhance professional growth through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, and attending in-services.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership in all areas of professional practice, create a healthy work environment, and ensure educational goals are aligned with organizational goals and strategic plan.
Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field, with at least 3 years of directly related experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient safety, education assessment, instruction, and outcomes and evaluation, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Candidates must be certified in CPR for Healthcare/BLS and have a valid RN license in New Mexico or a reciprocal agreement state. Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo is a plus.

Working Conditions

This is a Heavy Work position that requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. The position also requires working in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials.
