About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Services Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our Data Center Solutions business unit, you will play a critical role in the creation of innovative products that support the data center industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret electrical, control, and mechanical blueprints, drawings, and other specifications.
  • Measure and lay out reference points for installation.
  • Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components using hand and power tools.
  • Measure and cut piping and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment.
  • Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices.
  • Recharge system with refrigerant, check and test regulators, calibrate system, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of heating and cooling/refrigeration equipment/systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-based Custom Controls designed and built by Silent-Aire.
Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
  • Knowledge of operating principles of various types of cooling/refrigeration equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical and solid state control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and building codes.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Previous experience with start-up and commissioning responsibilities at customer facilities.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Able to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Can identify the components and understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems associated with the equipment, use meters, and other handheld tools to perform maintenance and to troubleshoot.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Must gain excellent logistical knowledge of customer's onsite practices.
  • Must be able to drive to local job sites on a request basis.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Proven experience working well with other technicians and tradesman.
  • Must have a strong desire to continue to develop their knowledge base.
  • Good hygiene and cleanliness are required at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fully understands and has mastered the fundamentals of temperature and humidity measurement and control in air conditioning units.
  • EPA 608 Certification.
Additional Details
  • Travel up to 80% is required to field worksite locations.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to pass a DOD background check, requiring proof of US Citizenship.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations (domestic and international).
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Company uniform required.
