Position Overview

Mid-Level Systems Monitoring Engineer

The Mid-Level Systems Monitoring Engineer plays a crucial role in collaborating with network engineers to facilitate the configuration and accessibility of the Government Customer's Enterprise Infrastructure, focusing on all assets related to Enterprise Management monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver operational support for network engineering.
  • Ensure seamless communication across all transport devices within the customer network classifications with the core tools of the Enterprise Management Infrastructure.
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as OpenText Network Automation and OpenText Network Node Manager to oversee systems.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations for network optimization and enhancements to support integration with Enterprise Management Tools.
  • Assist in monitoring through integration services and conduct security audits and design.
  • Aid in troubleshooting technical and design challenges.
  • Collaborate with Transport engineers to correlate SNMP events with actionable outcomes.
  • Facilitate the integration of new capabilities into monitoring solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior team members as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or
  • Associate's Degree with at least 6 years of experience, or
  • High School Diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Relevant experience should include:
  • Network management and support, integration services, security audits, and design.
  • Practical experience with Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, bridges, storage area networks, network security, and monitoring systems in both UNIX and Windows environments.
  • Knowledge of network design and engineering, TCP/IP design, routing protocols, OSI model, SNMP, RMON, and routing protocols (OSPF & BGP).
  • Proficiency in IP networking.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Capability to obtain CI Poly.
  • Ability to secure Security+ CE certification within six months of employment.
  • Preferred working knowledge of customer network infrastructure.
  • Proficient in producing clear technical documentation and delivering technical briefs.
  • Understanding of IT security principles and practices.
  • Capacity to operate under strict deadlines in an operational environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
