Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot the facility's process instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, control valves, and PLC control systems, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Electrician to diagnose issues with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and adjust parameter settings as necessary.
  • Conduct testing and calibration of process instrumentation and PLC parameters to uphold operational standards.
  • Manage the facility's Production and Administrative Networks, coordinating installation and maintenance with third-party service providers to ensure continuous operation.
  • Implement Preventive and Predictive Maintenance strategies for the facility's instrumentation and control systems to maximize uptime.
  • Develop corrective and preventive action plans to resolve recurring instrumentation and control challenges.
  • Document all completed work meticulously for future analysis and continuous improvement, ensuring all records are up-to-date.
  • Establish and maintain instrumentation and control design standards for new installations to accommodate current and future growth requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

· 2-5 years of experience in an industrial setting as an Instrumentation and Controls Technician.

· Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing VFDs, motors, wiring configurations, control valves, PLCs, and electrical schematics.

· Strong familiarity with AB PLC processors (preferably CompactLogix and ControlLogix) and associated input/output modules.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, P&IDs, and manufacturer installation manuals.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of producing clear memos, reports, and documentation.

· Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

· Willingness to be on-call as required.

Preferred:

· Experience in a food manufacturing environment.

· An associate degree in electrical training related to Instrumentation and Controls or equivalent experience, and/or 2-5 years of education in Electronics or Industrial Electricity.

· Knowledge of IT Networking.

· Familiarity with eMaint.

· Experience with Infrared Thermography.

· Understanding of other non-A&B control systems.
