Application Process
To apply, please submit a cover letter detailing your interest and qualifications for the Attorney position, along with your resume, a sample of your legal writing (maximum of 10 pages), an unofficial law school transcript, and contact information for three references. We recommend familiarizing yourself with our firm and Managing Partner prior to submitting your application.
Compensation: $125,000 - $135,000 annually
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court when necessary
- Oversee the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings
- Advocate for clients by understanding their needs, analyzing situations, and formulating action plans
- Manage full case responsibilities from inception to resolution
- Maintain an organized and current filing system for client documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports on pertinent case issues
- Maintain a consistent schedule of court appearances, hearings, and meetings
- Communicate effectively with senior partners, paralegals, and clients throughout the legal process
- Provide leadership and mentorship to legal assistants and paralegals
- Draft legal documents including motions, briefs, and pleadings
- Prepare clients and cases for trial
- Engage with clients and collaborate with experts as needed
- Develop and nurture relationships with current and prospective clients
- Uphold professionalism in court appearances and client interactions
- Organize and manage client files to ensure accuracy and completeness
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of Family Law litigation experience (non-negotiable)
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice in DC
- Exceptional writing and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to prioritize client service and teamwork by managing relationships
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
- Effective time management
- Critical thinking abilities
- Multitasking skills
- Proficient in negotiation and persuasion techniques
- Familiarity with Google Drive and G-Suite products
- Ability to think creatively
- Self-motivated and independent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Criminal and/or Personal Injury law is highly desirable
- Familiarity with MyCase (case management system) is preferred
- Creative problem-solving skills
