Seeking a highly skilled Medical Operations Coordinator to join our team at the State of Colorado. This role will play a critical part in overseeing the day-to-day operations of medical healthcare delivery for the Division of Youth Services statewide.

About the Position

This is a direct supervisory role that requires providing support for performance evaluations, reviewing and implementing preventive health care services, program, and protocol development, providing in-person technical assistance, ensuring program staffing, contract review and management, and budget oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Medical Clinic Support, Oversight and Compliance:
    • Be the point of contact for healthcare staff across DYS
    • Guide and support clinic operations
    • Respond to case escalations
    • Provide clinical coverage as needed
    • Review and approve the ordering of supplies
    • Facilitate and attend various administrative and clinical meetings
    • Oversee the response to quality-related findings and improvement efforts
    • Create and conduct continuing education
    • Review, implement and ensure adherence to protocol and policy
  • Clinical Care:
    • Diagnose medical problems including emergency medical situations by performing physical exams, ordering appropriate laboratory tests and other diagnostic tests, interpreting results, formulating treatment plans using established protocol, and documenting thoroughly
    • Use established protocol for prescribing medication and treatment for diagnosed illness
    • Maximizing patient education in the treatment plan to promote health in wellness including education
    • Consult with the medical director/physician regarding necessary referrals and complex cases
    • Prepare and administer medications
    • Review of non-formulary medication requests
    • Routine chart audits for documentation adherence and best practice charting by clinical staff
  • Supervision:
    • Provide direct support supervision of facility medical leads including assisting in performance evaluations, progressive discipline, and initiating hiring processes
    • Contribute to the evaluation of medical and clinical performance of all DYS medical staff and contract medical staff
    • Provides consultation and/or negotiation with facility or program-based medical staff and administrators throughout DYS for the purpose of meeting established programmatic goals and objectives
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed below:

  • Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
    • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution
    • Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
    • Five (5) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, one of which must have been at the level of a unit supervisor or equivalent
  • Substitutions:
    • Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis
    • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $62,000-$82,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
