Job Title: Structural Bridge Engineer

Volkert is seeking a talented Structural Bridge Engineer to join our Southwest Region team in Cottonwood Heights, UT. As a Structural Bridge Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and analyzing bridge and transportation structures using various software programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures
  • Review calculations and design details developed by others
  • Perform load ratings on bridges of various type, size, and complexity
  • Prepare structural drawings in MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Conduct bridge inspections
  • Review shop drawings and other related construction submittals
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Cost estimating for various structural elements
  • Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program. M.S. in Structural Engineering a plus
  • 3-7 years of engineering experience in bridge design
  • Course level or recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design
  • EIT certification is required
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) in Utah or ability to obtain is preferred
  • Structural Engineering License (SE) in Utah or ability to obtain is preferred
  • Familiarity with bridge analysis software, MicroStation, or AutoCAD is preferred
  • Strong skills using MS Excel and MS Word
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
