Job Summary

Covenant Ability Network of Illinois is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Healthcare Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date healthcare records for each client, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  2. Nursing Assessments: Conduct quarterly and annual nursing assessments for each client, documenting all findings and recommendations.
  3. Medication Management: Oversee the ordering, monitoring, and documentation of medications for each client, ensuring lab orders are followed and results are shared with the medical director.
  4. Delegation of Administration: Ensure compliance with state guidelines for the delegation of administration of medications.
  5. Medication Administration: Ensure that all medication administration data matches point-of-sale data, including updates throughout the medication cycle.
  6. Interdisciplinary Team Meetings: Attend regular interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client care plans and ensure coordination of services.
  7. Medical Assessments: Conduct annual medical assessments for each client, documenting all findings and recommendations.
  8. Medical Budget Oversight: Directly oversee the medical budget, ensuring that expenses are managed effectively.
  9. Medical Supply Management: Monitor the ordering and stock of medical supplies, coordinating with the medical coordinator and direct support professionals.
  10. Medical Appointments: Coordinate medical appointments for clients, as needed.
  11. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for direct support professionals, ensuring they are competent in medication administration and other nursing-related tasks.
  12. Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care.
  13. Infection Control: Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
  14. Communication: Maintain regular communication with family members, interdisciplinary team members, and other stakeholders.
  15. Reporting: Provide regular reports to the behavior management committee, psychotropic medication review, human rights committee, and other agency meetings.
  16. Admission, Orientation, Discharge, and Transfer: Coordinate the gathering of medical information during the admission, orientation, discharge, and transfer of clients.
  17. Individualized Plan of Care: Develop and maintain individualized plans of care for each client.
  18. Employee Performance Reviews: Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports, providing coaching, teaching, and corrective discipline as needed.
  19. Interviews: Coordinate and conduct interviews with potential staff members.
  20. Pharmacy Reviews: Coordinate quarterly pharmacy reviews with the agency's pharmacist consultant.
  21. Agency Meetings: Attend agency in-service training and staff meetings as required.
  22. On-Call Responsibilities: Participate in on-call rotations, providing medical support and guidance as needed.
  23. Research and Support: Research medical reimbursement issues and provide support to the executive director and program coordinators as needed.
  24. Employee Health Screening: Provide medical support for employee health screening, including TB vaccine administration, flu vaccine clinics, and Hepatitis B vaccinations.
