Purpose

To deliver comprehensive technical assistance for the organization's hardware, software, network systems, and associated equipment. This role encompasses diagnosing and resolving technical challenges, installing and configuring both software and hardware, and ensuring optimal functionality of our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer technical assistance to users for hardware, software, and network-related inquiries.
  • Support teleconferencing tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
  • Possess a strong understanding of Microsoft 365 applications (Office and Email).
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with computer systems, printers, servers, and other IT devices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Address help desk tickets and resolve issues promptly, escalating complex matters as necessary.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, backups, and virus scans.
  • Establish and manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
  • Assist in the rollout of new IT projects and initiatives, including system upgrades and migrations.
  • Document technical processes and maintain accurate records of IT inventory and software licenses.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in the IT sector, providing recommendations for system and process enhancements.
  • Educate and guide users on IT best practices and procedures.
  • Work with structured wiring and cabling (copper and fiber optic) to support infrastructure.
  • Maintain and support telephone equipment, including performing moves, additions, and changes.
  • Have a working knowledge of VoIP phone systems.
  • Support and troubleshoot Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance systems, Flight Information systems, Terminal Paging Systems, and other network-based systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Two-year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Three years of experience as an IT Technician or in a similar capacity, with experience in VMware and virtual server environments, and troubleshooting technical issues in a dynamic setting.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant technical certifications.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license, free of serious or frequent traffic violations.
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service.
  • Present oneself professionally with excellent interpersonal skills to foster working relationships.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

  • Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and wireless networks.
  • Working knowledge of network administration of servers, firewalls, switches, and network cabling.
  • Knowledge of Telecom and Data Communication Standards regarding Build-Out and Cabling.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) are advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed for system maintenance and upgrades.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Job functions require sitting for extended periods, standing and walking frequently, and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
  • Extensive wrist and hand movements required for frequent keyboarding and equipment use.
  • Ability to perform close work to read and use computer equipment.

Working Contacts with Others:
Regular contact with Airport management, employees, tenants, vendors, and the general public.

Working Conditions, Travel, Environment, and Potential Hazards:
Work will be performed inside and outside the terminal. Outdoor work may result in exposure to wind, rain, snow, ice, and temperature extremes. Some exposure to aircraft noise, pollution, and other hazards. Hearing protection provided and required. Schedule may include variable shifts. The position is subject to recall.

Equipment Operation Required:
Vehicles, two-way radios, mobile phones, computers, and other office equipment.

Spokane Airport provides a generous benefits package, covering employees at 100% and dependents at 90% of the premium cost. Medical coverage options include vision through Kaiser Permanente, with contributions to Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA). Dental coverage is provided through MetLife, and life insurance is available at two times the annual salary. Short-term and long-term disability coverage is also provided. Retirement is managed through the Washington State Department of Retirement System - PERS Plan. The Airport offers an employee assistance program and provides parking.

The Airport recognizes 11 holidays, with vacation earned at eight (8) hours a month for the first five (5) years, increasing every five (5) years. Sick leave accrues at eight (8) hours a month, and military and jury leave are also provided.
