GENERAL OVERVIEW


The Key Account Manager (KAM) plays a crucial role in enhancing the value of the organization by ensuring the retention and growth of UniFirst's uniform rental, direct sales, and various other products and services associated with our most significant key accounts. The main objective of this role is to maintain a customer retention rate of 94% to 100%. The KAM is accountable for the current status of the accounts and is responsible for all related metrics.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers at all levels within assigned accounts through proactive engagement and meetings both on-site and off-site.
  • Conduct regular account visits and schedule biannual reviews (utilizing tools such as performance report cards to assess service effectiveness).
  • Leverage internal and external resources to retain clients, boost rental revenue, provide additional product insights, and identify new revenue streams.
  • Maintain accurate records with all relevant information on a daily basis.
  • Oversee customer contract and purchase order status, ensuring timely renewals before expiration.
  • Collaborate closely with all UniFirst departments to ensure customer satisfaction exceeds expectations.
  • Generate leads for the Service and Sales teams as needed.
  • Foster internal interdepartmental relationships to enhance customer satisfaction, drive new business development, and increase revenue and profitability.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare reports on business transactions and maintain expense accounts.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding service and sales challenges, successes, and requirements for new business generation.
  • Participate in weekly meetings.
  • Stay informed on sales techniques, professional knowledge, and self-development to maximize career growth and advancement.
  • Assist the service team in customizing uniform programs and renewing client contracts upon expiration.
  • Keep updated on company capabilities, product offerings, and changes related to sales and customer needs.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred college degree.
  • 3 to 5+ years of proven sales and/or service experience.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 70% - 80% for client interactions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong contract negotiation and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and executing solutions.
  • Capable of writing orders, proposals, and pricing.
