Working Title: Lead Accounting Technician

Anticipated Salary Range: $50,000 - $54,573

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Department Overview: The Facilities Division at NC State University is dedicated to maintaining a physical environment that supports the university's mission year-round. Our team of approximately 900 professionals is committed to planning, constructing, and sustaining high-quality facilities.

Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated accounting professional to join our Capital Project Management team as the Lead Accounting Technician. In this capacity, you will manage budgeting and accounting functions, including the processing of requisition requests, payment applications, and invoices. Your role will be crucial in ensuring accuracy in data entries and reconciliations while fostering teamwork through effective communication, collaboration, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee requisitions, purchase orders, and voucher requests for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Process invoices and payment applications efficiently.
  • Update financial records in relevant systems and spreadsheets.
  • Assist in project management and financial system enhancements.
  • Create project identifiers and manage project documentation.
  • Review and authorize vouchers, requisitions, journal vouchers, and interdepartmental transfers.
  • Monitor usage and expenditures, providing reports as necessary.
  • Address inquiries from vendors, staff, and project managers.
  • Maintain accounting records, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports.
  • Utilize financial systems to ensure compliance with established policies.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of accounting experience, or a combination of training and experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate financial transaction processing.
  • Proficient in business writing, budget management, and accounting practices.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interaction with supervisors and the public.

Preferred Skills:

  • Progressive experience in accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software.

Required Certification: Valid NC Driver's License.
