ROLE OVERVIEW

The branded content division at Mediabistro is on the lookout for a skilled Writer & Editor to develop engaging and thought-provoking narratives for our clientele. This position is ideal for individuals with a solid background in writing and editing, particularly within the publishing realm, and who have a keen interest in digital marketing and technology.

The content studio is dedicated to producing authoritative and explanatory materials for a variety of clients aiming to connect with top-tier brand marketers and agencies. As a Writer & Editor, you will play a crucial role in steering our content initiatives, ensuring they are informative, high-quality, and aligned with the needs of our audience and partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Development: You will be tasked with executing content across various projects, including in-depth features, reports, guides, thought leadership articles, video scripts, and social media copy tailored for marketing professionals.
  • Editing Expertise: Your editing acumen will be essential in reviewing and refining submitted content to ensure clarity, relevance, and insightfulness.
  • Collaboration with Freelancers: You will engage with a network of freelance contributors on diverse assignments, helping to expand the studio's talent pool.
  • Creative Conceptualization: You will generate and propose unique project ideas that assist clients in conveying compelling stories that resonate with our audience. Your ability to brainstorm creatively will be key in bringing innovative concepts to fruition.
  • Project Coordination: You will collaborate with content studio producers to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • Experience in writing and editing within a publishing environment, particularly focused on brand marketing and advertising, with a strong interest in the technology that drives these sectors.
  • Proficiency in transforming complex subjects into engaging and accessible content, especially in the realm of explanatory writing.
  • The capability to create content that effectively represents a sponsor's perspective while remaining informative and valuable to our audience.

QUALIFICATIONS THAT WILL DISTINGUISH YOU

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a writer, editor, or reporter, preferably within a publishing organization, agency, or brand.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative spirit, with the ability to work closely with studio members and cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, complemented by a sense of humor.
  • Experience in pitching content ideas to clients, along with a strong portfolio.
  • A meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of projects.
