Overview:The Senior Product Manager GTB Wholesale Banking Europe will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, and management of transaction banking products. This role will support the European Head of GTB (EHGTB) and the broader WB Leadership team in implementing the Wholesale Banking and GTB strategy.
The Senior Product Manager GTB will drive disciplined product management across the GTB business, developing insightful performance metrics/analysis of the GTB business to uncover challenges and recommend mitigating solutions and identify and recommend opportunities to meet Wholesale banking strategic & business objectives.
The role will ensure key governance mechanisms are in place and potential risks (business audit risk compliance etc.) are identified and resolved/mitigated.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the end-to-end management of existing GTB products, including monitoring P&Ls, commercializing GTB products, and ensuring their fit-for-purpose nature for our clients.
- Work jointly with internal stakeholders across WB Coverage, GTB Product, and Unit Heads in ABC IB & SA to implement and deliver strategic initiatives to help grow their WB business, particularly GTB product propositions & digital channel onboarding.
- Support GTB Product, WB Coverage, and Geography businesses in developing, implementing, and embedding their individual business strategies/plans to align to the WB Strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding of market and sector trends, threats, and opportunities and needs of prospective and current Clients to feed into a continuously evolving WB Strategy and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify potential GTB product enhancements based on a deep understanding of client and business needs.
- Continuously review the WB pipeline and ensure WB Coverage, GTB Product, and Geography businesses maintain a strong proactive marketing program to identify new GTB product/market opportunities to grow and diversify revenues and expand the Client base.
- Ensure WB businesses consistently implement and monitor robust strategic/client plans and coordinate periodic deep-dive reviews of the same.
- Use data to create insightful management information (MI) to support pricing and profitability monitoring and contribute to relevant Committees, e.g., EBAC.
- Devise and implement reporting procedures to ensure awareness of all core issues and data pertinent to the performance of Wholesale Banking, including identifying early-warning signals that may impact achieving the WB Strategy objectives, including competitive strengths & weaknesses of the GTB product proposition.
- Provide ongoing support and assistance to WB Businesses, including in relation to business origination/development, devising bespoke financial solutions/advisory roll out of new GTB products, entering new markets, and revision/enhancement of existing processes.
- Setup issues and requests for GTB product approvals, pricing, legal, and internal queries.
- Continuously monitor the transaction banking and regulatory environment to ensure competitive offerings and compliance with market changes.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting by the WB Businesses by coordinating with the relevant internal stakeholders as required.
- Manage business risks (audit risk and compliance). Notably:
- a) Key contact for Audit Risk & Compliance matters.
- b) Manage the product and risk control framework, including product approvals/product papers.
- c) Lead on GTB Product Governance activities, including product reviews, ensuring that key governance mechanisms are in place to identify and manage potential business risks.
- d) Develop mitigation/remediation approaches and disseminate to relevant stakeholders across ABC IB and Group Head office to embed approaches.
- Strong understanding of the transaction banking landscape, including payments, cash management, trade finance, and related technologies.
- Strong generalist knowledge across multiple products, including frontend channels, middle, and back-office systems.
- Strategy, Corporate & FI Banking, Wholesale Banking Products, Trade Finance, risk management, Credit Analysis, Fintech, Relationship Management, and Business development.
- Appropriate level of experience in banking with strong exposure to product and business management and front-office roles, key.
- Experience of operating at EXCO/ManCom level, track record of delivery, and versatility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, highly analytical, delivery-focused, intellectual curiosity, ability to communicate/present at all levels of the organization internally and externally, highly organized, and attentive to detail.
- Strong sense of accountability.
- Commercial acumen and proactive with the ability and willingness to take the initiative.
- Analytical skills with the ability to construct and evaluate different business cases to maximize ROI.
