Position Overview:

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Level One CNC Grinder role, where you will operate under direct supervision to manage the loading and unloading of components in 3-5 axis CNC milling and lathe machine cells, producing intricate aerospace components. As a Level One machinist, you will conduct in-process inspections of machined products, necessitating foundational skills in shop mathematics, utilization of hand measuring instruments, and thorough documentation practices. Responsibilities also include basic deburring tasks and performing routine preventative maintenance on machinery, ensuring coolant and lubricant levels are maintained and work areas are kept clean. Typically, candidates should have 0-3 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe equipment handling.
  • Efficiently load and unload products for machining across various fixtures and operations.
  • Safeguard machinery and machined items by following established processes, maintaining control over the machine, and safely moving products over short distances.
  • Conduct and document in-process inspections, measuring and validating part features against customer-specified dimensional tolerances and requirements.
  • Execute basic deburring tasks, including edge breaking and light surface blending, using a variety of deburring tools and materials.
  • Utilize production tracking systems such as Labor Track and Shop Trak to log time against job orders and manage parts at the end of shifts.
  • This position involves tasks requiring PPE for handling customer hardware, typically limited to gloves to prevent skin contact.
  • Responsibilities also encompass various duties related to the collection and storage of hazardous waste, including:
    • Using appropriate PPE for specific tasks.
    • Proper disposal of used PPE in designated containers.
    • Correct transfer of containers to the appropriate hazardous waste storage area.
    • Adhering to proper labeling and work practices for waste collection and containers.
    • Understanding facility emergency procedures and the Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English.
  • Basic understanding of shop mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and their proper application.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical applications related to fasteners.
  • Understanding of part holding techniques and procedures.
  • Awareness of deburring tools and techniques.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC controls.
Experience Needed:
  • Prior experience with mechanical processes and tools, including hand tools and light machinery such as saws, drills, and pneumatic devices.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
Educational Background:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred, though not mandatory.
