Position Overview:

The selected candidates for the Level One Precision Grinder role will operate under direct supervision, responsible for loading and unloading components within 3-5 axis CNC milling and lathe machine cells to manufacture intricate aerospace parts. This entry-level position entails conducting in-process inspections of machined products, necessitating fundamental skills in shop mathematics, the use of hand measuring instruments, and proper documentation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe equipment handling.
  • Load and unload parts for machining across various fixtures and operations.
  • Safeguard machinery and machined components by following established procedures for part handling and transportation.
  • Execute and document in-process inspections, ensuring compliance with customer-specified dimensional tolerances and requirements.
  • Perform basic deburring tasks, including edge finishing and surface blending using various deburring tools and materials.
  • Utilize production tracking systems to log time against job orders and manage parts at the end of shifts.
  • Engage in duties that involve the handling and disposal of hazardous waste, including:
    • Using appropriate PPE for specific tasks.
    • Correct disposal of used PPE in designated containers.
    • Transferring waste containers to the proper hazardous waste storage areas.
    • Following proper labeling and work practices for waste collection.
    • Understanding facility emergency protocols and hazardous waste contingency plans.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and writing English.
  • Basic understanding of shop mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and their correct usage.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and mechanical applications, particularly regarding fasteners.
  • Understanding of part holding techniques and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of deburring tools and techniques.
  • Ability to interact with computers and CNC controls at a fundamental level.

Experience Requirements:

  • Basic experience with mechanical processes and tools, including hand tools and light machinery such as saws and drills.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.

Educational Background:

  • GED or high school diploma preferred, but not mandatory.
