Position Overview:

The selected candidates for the Precision Grinder role will operate under direct supervision, handling the loading and unloading of components in the operation of 3-5 axis CNC milling and lathe machine cells to manufacture intricate aerospace components. As entry-level machinists, they will be responsible for in-process inspections of machined products, necessitating foundational skills in shop mathematics, the use of hand measuring instruments, and documentation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper equipment handling.
  • Efficiently load and unload products for machining across various fixtures and operations.
  • Safeguard machinery and machined products by following established procedures for part loading and machine control.
  • Conduct and document in-process inspections, measuring and validating part features against customer-specified tolerances and requirements.
  • Perform basic deburring tasks, including edge finishing and light surface blending, utilizing various deburring tools and media.
  • Engage with production tracking systems to record time against job orders and manage parts at the end of shifts.
  • Handle duties related to the collection and storage of hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and writing English.
  • Basic understanding of shop mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and their proper application.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and mechanical applications related to fasteners.
  • Understanding of part holding techniques and procedures.
  • Awareness of deburring tools and methods.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC controls.

Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience with mechanical processes and tools, including hand tools and light machinery.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.

Educational Background:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
