  • Participate in mandatory technical and security training relevant to assigned responsibilities.
  • Verify that all users possess the necessary security clearances, authorizations, and understanding of their security obligations before granting access to information systems.
  • Conduct regular reviews of information systems to ensure adherence to the security authorization package.
  • Coordinate any modifications to hardware, software, or firmware with the ISSM and Authorizing Official (AO) prior to implementation.
  • Notify the ISSM and AO of any changes that may impact system authorization.
  • Oversee system recovery processes to ensure that security features and procedures are effectively restored and operational.
  • Maintain current and accessible security-related documentation for authorized personnel.
  • Conduct audits and continuous monitoring activities, report findings, execute incident responses, and contribute to status meetings.
  • Manage configuration baselines for both hardware and software.
  • Identify architectural vulnerabilities using industry-standard tools, forwarding findings to the ISSM for evaluation.
  • Mentor and guide junior ISSOs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of common auditing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF), including NIST SP 800-53, JSIG, DAAPM, and ICD 503.
  • Knowledge of information technology fundamentals.
  • Awareness of network types (e.g., WAN, LAN) and related infrastructure (e.g., servers, switches, firewalls).
Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline is required.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • An IAM I/IAT II Certification or higher is required.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience is necessary.
  • Preferred experience includes auditing systems using native scripting languages and tools, as well as collaborating with ISSMs to develop and manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
