POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant I plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. This position involves a variety of accounting tasks that support the overall financial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and input journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Conduct analysis for monthly revenue margins across various departments, ensuring accuracy through collaboration with business leaders.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing results with senior accountants and controllers.
  • Analyze budget results and generate variance reports.
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing for events.
  • Code and post accounts receivable invoices in the billing system.
  • Utilize the billing system to track advanced deposits in line with license agreements.
  • Invoice third-party vendors for commissions owed.
  • Coordinate with service providers to apply food and beverage commissions to customer events as per agreements.
  • Oversee daily deposits of cash and checks into the operating account.
  • Reconcile daily batches of credit payments processed.
  • Lead efforts to collect overdue balances from customers based on accounts receivable aging reports.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts receivable.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI guidelines during credit card processing.
  • Process credit card transactions for ancillary services ordered via various channels.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Proficient in computer systems and software, particularly Excel and Word.
  • One to two years of accounting experience, ideally within the hospitality sector.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Applicants should possess:

  • Understanding of general and cost accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Strong mathematical skills and a high aptitude for numerical analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational abilities.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY

Successful candidates will have a working knowledge of event booking and scheduling software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Solomon software is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands of this position require the ability to work both indoors and outdoors as needed. Employees must be capable of walking or standing for extended periods and performing tasks that require manual dexterity.

WORKING HOURS

This role may require irregular hours based on business needs.
