Vocational Training Support Specialist

Compensation: $16.50 per hour

The Vocational Training Support Specialist, operating under the guidance of the Vocational Instructor(s) and as part of a collaborative team adhering to established organizational policies, assists in the development, execution, and direct educational services to meet each student's personalized education plan in the domains of Janitorial Services and/or Food Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the instructor by delivering individualized and small group instruction to students.
  • Observe and manage student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate social interactions.
  • Assist students with physical and medical requirements.
  • Communicate student progress to the instructor as necessary.
  • Provide constructive and positive feedback to students.
  • Help maintain classroom and on-site organization and management.
  • Complete all necessary program documentation promptly.
  • Gather data and prepare reports as directed by the supervisor.
  • Fill out incident report forms as situations arise.
  • Document mileage as per organizational standards when applicable.
  • Collaborate effectively with students, families, employers, program staff, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Participate in required training sessions and meetings, maintaining necessary certifications.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and procedures.
  • Deliver person-centered, high-quality services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in a human services field is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health conditions is required.
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver's License.
