Job Overview

Position Summary: A Peer Recovery Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing outreach, advocacy, and mentoring to individuals pursuing or maintaining their recovery journey. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated team to deliver essential services to individuals facing behavioral health challenges, while also connecting them to vital resources and support systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize personal lived experiences to foster a supportive environment that encourages client recovery.
  • Offer advocacy and skill development opportunities tailored to individual needs.
  • Engage actively in team discussions to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Personal experience with mental health, substance use, and the criminal justice system is essential.
  • Willingness to share personal recovery experiences.
  • Completion of Recovery Coach Academy or certification as a recovery peer advocate or peer specialist is preferred.
  • Possession of a current and valid NYS driver's license is mandatory.
