Position Overview

Role Summary: A Peer Recovery Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing outreach, advocacy, and mentoring to individuals pursuing or maintaining their recovery journey. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated team to deliver essential services to those facing behavioral health challenges, ensuring they are connected to vital resources and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize personal lived experiences to foster a supportive environment for clients.
  • Engage in advocacy efforts that empower clients in their recovery process.
  • Facilitate skill development opportunities that enhance clients' recovery journeys.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Personal experience with mental health, substance use, and the criminal justice system is essential.
  • Willingness to share personal recovery experiences is necessary.
  • Completion of Recovery Coach Academy or certification as a recovery peer advocate or peer specialist is preferred.
  • A valid NYS driver's license is required.

This role is integral to the mission of the Center for Family Life and Recovery, focusing on empowering individuals through shared experiences and support.
